Postings can include anything genealogical or historical pertaining to Hamilton County.
It is a good place to ask general questions or post information about Hamilton County genealogy or history.

• Put in subject line: <anything you want>
• Put in message body: subscribe <and nothing else>
(don't forget to turn off signatures in your e-mail program)
You will get a welcome message back confirming your subscription and explaining how to use the list.
To send a message to the list, do the following:

You must be subscribed to the list to post messages to it.
The messages must be sent in plain text format with NO attachments.
Messages with attachments or with html or rich text formatting will be rejected by the RootsWeb server.
Please post messages relevant only to Hamilton County genealogy or history.

This genealogy list covers the entire state of Illinois.
It is another good place to post your queries on Illinois genealogy.

• Put in subject line: <anything you want>
• Put in message body: SUB ILLINOIS-ROOTS-L <and nothing else>
